Spicy Calabrian Sandwich
This sandwich used breadsticks as a bun and came in several variations and featured chicken tossed in red Calabrian sauce and other ingredients.
For unknown reasons, the breadstick sandwich line was discontinued. Some have speculated it was removed because Olive Garden chose to focus on more authentically Italian dishes.
Spaghetti Pie
This 2016 menu item was a plausibly authentic rendition of pasta frittata. It had cheese bound together with eggs and was baked until a golden brown crust was formed.
Olive Garden may still be able to make this dish if they have the ingredients available. However, while they might be on hand, the dish is too time-consuming for the kitchen.
Chicken Con Broccoli
The garlic herb chicken con broccoli featured sliced grilled chicken, broccoli, and a garlic Alfredo sauce. The real star of the show was the orecchiette pasta.
Fans felt the void when it was removed from the menu, but the chain introduced variations. Still, orecchiette pasta is unavailable as of May 2024, so it can’t be replicated.
Steak Gorgonzola Alfredo
This dish had fettuccine smothered in Alfredo sauce, gorgonzola cheese, and grilled steak topped with a balsamic glaze that paired delightfully.
It was a favorite dish for many, but it was still removed. There is a sirloin steak Alfredo option as of May 2024, but it’s not the same without the balsamic and gorgonzola cheese.
Ravioli Di Portobello
This recipe had round ravioli pasta stuffed with a portobello mushroom filling and was topped with a smoked cheese sauce with sundried tomatoes.
It had an unforgettable flavor, but was erased and replaced with a similar creamy mushroom ravioli dish. The new dish had Alfredo sauce and just wasn’t the same.
