Water Is The Key Ingredient For Juicy Burgers
BY AUSTIN HAVENS-BOWEN
Restaurants use a burger-making trick that will take your homemade creations to the next level. When it's time to cook the patties, all you need is water to achieve success.
A bit of water in the pan will prevent your burgers from drying out. Not only will it keep your patties moist, but it will also reduce the time it takes to cook them.
When cooking your patties on the stovetop, add one to two ounces of water to the pan and cover. Cook to your desired doneness, using a meat thermometer if you have one.
With this method, you're essentially steaming your burger before searing it, which will keep it juicy, cook the sides of each patty, and melt any cheese you decide to put on top.
You should also use your thumb to make an indentation in the middle of each patty on one side before cooking them. This helps them to retain their shape without swelling.
