Use Leftover Ham In Potatoes Au Gratin For A Savory Twist
BY AUSTIN HAVENS-BOWEN
Whether you’re making potatoes au gratin from scratch or a box, leftover ham can add an unexpected decadence and meaty heartiness to the dish.
Add about an ounce of bite-sized ham bits per serving to add a salty, umami layer to the dish. If the ham is raw, cook it before cutting and mixing it with the potatoes.
You can further elevate the dish by adding flavored ham whether a slightly sweet honey or maple variety, spiced black forest ham, or Italian favorites like pancetta.
