On his YouTube channel, Ramsay suggests adding salt and olive oil to the pasta water. He adds salt, cracked pepper, and more olive oil to the drained pasta for a tastier result.
When pasta hydrates in that warm water, it takes on a bit of the savory taste of the salted water. Ramsay notes that the olive oil coats the noodles so they don't stick together.
The boiling pasta doesn't absorb all the salt, so adding a post-drain sprinkle of salt and pepper can enhance the outer flavor.
