Trader Joe's Boozy Macarons Feature A Trio Of Liquors
By WENDY LEIGH
Trader Joe's thrives on seasonal products, including both returning favorites and newbies making their debut in 2022. If you're looking for a holiday treat besides the classic Gingerbread Ice Cream and Candy Cane Tea, try TJ's grown-up twist on classic French-style meringue cookies: Boozy Macarons.
TJ's Boozy Macarons come in three colors and flavors: French XO brandy (violet), Cointreau triple sec liqueur (orange), and a chosen premium rum (cream). The frozen treats contain up to 2.6% alcohol per cookie, and come from an unnamed French supplier that specializes in fun, fancy macarons.
Since the cream inside macarons absorbs liquid well, the cookies lend themselves to alcohol infusions. If you prefer to make your own boozy treats, browse sites like Pinterest to find recipes for macarons with Bailey's Irish Cream, raspberry-laced vodka, beer, red wine, gin and tonic, and even Jack Daniels.
