There's A Quick No-Frills Method To Open Wine Without A Corkscrew
By CATHERINE RICKMAN
There are countless methods for opening a bottle of wine without a corkscrew, but this one might be the simplest since it only requires a wooden spoon and a little elbow grease.
Remove the foil from the bottle, and press it into the cork with a wooden spoon handle until it pops into the bottle. You could also use a marker, chopstick, or even your thumb.
You might get sprayed from the reverse pressure, and it's best to drink the wine pronto since you won't be able to reseal it, but this is a handy technique for when all else fails.
If your cork breaks, just pour your wine through a strainer or coffee filter to collect the bits. Most wine is completely fine if it touches the cork, so grab a spoon and drink up!
