The Unexpected Way Alex Guarnaschelli Amps Up
Her Coffee
By SHAYE GLISSON
Sipping a cup of joe can be done in many styles: plain black, with cream and sugar, or with a milky foam. Chef and native New Yorker Alex Guarnaschelli is a real coffee drinker who enjoys coffee with milk or half and a half and then adds one particular ingredient.
The “Chopped” judge says she sprinkles ground coffee on her coffee before adding milk. She also adds that she loves that additional texture and burst of coffee, saying, “When you think about it, you have a thing of grounds, you pour water over it, and it comes to life and [with this] you hydrate the coffee, with the coffee itself."
Healthline says that snacking on coffee beans has the same health benefits as drinking coffee, although the bean delivers a more concentrated dose of caffeine. Munching coffee beans in moderation provides antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits, like preventing heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, colorectal cancer, and Alzheimer's disease, among other things.
