The Unexpected Ingredients In Alton Brown’s Pot Roast
BY MICHELLE WELSCH
From adding beer or figs to pot roasts, Alton Brown is known for giving us classic dishes made with delicious twists — and we've learned to listen to his culinary creativity.
Such is the case with the celebrity chef’s instructions to dump cocktail olives and raisins into a pot roast generously seasoned with cumin and garlic.
The resulting recipe, which Brown shared on his website, is packed with waves of flavor. Brown also sneaks tomato juice and balsamic vinegar into the sauce to make this roast.
Brown's pot roast takes several hours to bake and put together, but the melt-in-your-mouth meat that can be portioned out onto plates makes every minute spent worthwhile.
