The Unexpected Addition For Tastier Homemade Flatbread
By RYAN CASHMAN
While it may seem like an unassuming ingredient, Greek yogurt is one of the key ingredients for a low-maintenance, quick, and extremely tasty flatbread.
Greek yogurt provides the moisture necessary to turn flour into dough, adds an extra tang and bite to the flatbread, and helps develop flavor due to its fat content.
The only two ingredients needed to make this flatbread successfully are self-raising flour and Greek yogurt. Mix these two until they form a cohesive ball of dough.
You can add extra flavors like garlic, thyme, oregano, or red pepper flakes to the flour before adding the yogurt. Then, let the dough rest for at least 20 minutes to relax it.
Divide the dough into smaller balls and roll each into a flat circle. Brush each circle with oil or melted butter, and cook on a hot griddle for just a few minutes per side.
The result should be a beautifully browned, light, fluffy, tangy, and flavorful flatbread that makes a great accompaniment to a meal or an excellent alternative to traditional sandwich bread.
