The Tip To Follow When Salting Water For Pasta Salad
BY DILLON FERNANDO
Salt can greatly enhance the flavor of a simple dish like pasta salad, so if you want perfectly seasoned noodles, increase the amount of salt you add to your boiling water.
A good ratio for a hot pasta dish is around 1 tablespoon of kosher salt for every 4 quarts of water, but you should increase the salt to 4 tablespoons when making pasta salad.
Since the finished pasta salad will be chilled or at room temperature, it needs to be saltier, since our taste buds are more receptive to flavors like saltiness when food is hot.
You should season most cold or room temp foods more aggressively so that your taste buds can detect all the flavors. Add a bit more salt to the other pasta salad ingredients, too.
