The Temperature Rule For Baking Breaded Chicken
By ERIN SHAW
While cooking chicken may seem like a simple task, there's some extra work involved if you bread the meat. Many cooks prefer to fry their breaded chicken, but it can be just as delicious when baked, and you can ensure that your meal comes out perfectly if you keep certain temperature rules in mind.
As a general guideline, bake your breaded chicken at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes, and once that 30 minutes is up, monitor it every 10 minutes until you achieve an internal temperature of 165 degrees F and the crust is golden brown. Don't forget to rest your meat for a few minutes before digging in.
This relatively low baking temperature combined with consistent monitoring makes sure your breading doesn't burn. As for how to bread the chicken, you can use any combination of flour, an egg wash, and breadcrumbs, and make sure to season both your chicken and the breading for the most flavorful results.
