The Tater Tot Brand You Should Ignore At The Grocery Store

The criteria for our recent ranking of seven tater tot brands were texture, taste, and oil content, and Walmart's Great Value tater tots failed in all three facets, coming in last.
The tater tots from the Walmart store brand were under-seasoned and bland, with a mushy, pulpy interior. Cooking them as instructed crisped the exterior, but they were ultra-oily.
Despite a nice golden-brown crust, the taste and texture weren’t like a fried potato. The product's quality has reportedly sunk over the last two years due to a change in recipe.
