The Summer Party Staple That’s Ideal For Slow Cooking Beginners
BY KAREN HART
Don’t hide away your slow cooker until the cooler weather hits. It’s the perfect tool to create dips and side dishes for your summer barbecues.
One of the benefits of making your dips and side dishes in a slow cooker is that you can make them ahead of time and simply warm them up before guests arrive.
You can make a spinach artichoke dip, a sweet creamed corn recipe, or try a buffalo chicken dip. You just need to put the ingredients together and let the slow cooker do the work.
If you are unsure about how much you should make, a good rule of thumb is to use a 3 or 5-quart slow cooker for up to 4 people or a 6-quart size for a larger gathering.
