The Starbucks Tea Built To Soothe Your Throat
BY JESSIE MOLLOY
Many varieties of hot tea make you feel better when you're sick by not only clearing your nose and throat, but also by using their anti-inflammatory, pain-killing, antimicrobial, and/or antibacterial properties. Starbucks even offers its own throat-soothing Honey Citrus Mint Tea, a beverage that started out as a secret menu item.
Honey Citrus Mint Tea was known as the "Medicine Ball" by fans before it became an official menu item in 2017. It's a combination of Jade Citrus Mint Green Tea, Peach Tranquility Herbal Tea, hot water, steamed lemonade, and honey; some customers also like to add one pump of peppermint syrup for extra soothing properties.
This drink makes you feel better because honey contains antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, and lemon juice also contains anti-inflammatory antioxidants and promotes saliva production, which soothes a dry mouth and throat. Additionally, peppermint contains menthol, which provides a cool, soothing sensation.
