The Spoon Hack That Will Cut Time For Baked Potatoes
By WENDY MEAD
To speed up the cooking time of a baked potato, companies have created tools like extra-long aluminum nails and metal potato stands with spikes designed to hold several potatoes.
These metal gadgets are inserted into the potato and conduct heat to cook the inside quicker. For the same effect with no money spent, all you need is a metal spoon.
Chef Phil Vickery demonstrates this method by inserting the handle of a spoon into a potato. When the spoon heats up, it’ll cut about 15 to 20 minutes from the cooking process.
Vickery suggests putting the potatoes in the microwave for six minutes, flipping them halfway through, then inserting the spoon and putting them in the oven to bake.
