The Spice That Gives Mouthwatering Color To Red Barbecue Meats

Turmeric can add a vibrant yellow color and pleasant earthy taste to spice mixes and rubs, which can boost the flavor and appearance of many dishes, including barbecued red meats.
It can tone down the sweetness of a Teriyaki-style sauce and up the umaminess. You can also mix it with ginger, garam masala, ground coriander, or cumin for a tandoori spice rub.
Freshly grated turmeric is best for marinades and BBQ sauces, while dried is best for rubs. Start with 1/2 teaspoon of dried or two teaspoons of fresh turmeric; add more if needed.
