The Specialty Food Store Ina Garten Thinks Is The Best In The World
By LAUREN ROTHMAN
As the Food Network host of “Barefoot Contessa” and author of 13 cookbooks, it’s no secret that Ina Garten knows her stuff when it comes to food. In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more refined food-world figure than Ina Garten so, when the Barefoot Contessa declares a specialty food store “the best in the world,” we listen up.
From a survey of Garten’s recipes, it’s fairly clear that the chef has a love of French cuisine and culture. After a two-and-a-half-year hiatus due to the pandemic travel ban, Garten is back in Paris and posting about her adventures. Even in a country full of good food, Garten took the time to highlight La Grande Épicerie as one of her favorite spots in the city.
La Grande Épicerie is a 2,900-square-meter gourmet food emporium with stunning displays of French breads, desserts, wines, cheeses, cured meats, and many other items. Garten is a fan, and in an Instagram post, she called it "...the best specialty food store in the world! It’s a full city block… and it has every imaginable wine and food you could want.”
