The Simple Way To Elevate Your Traditional Grapefruit Breakfast
By SHAYE GLISSON
If you like to start your morning with grapefruit to speed up your metabolism or get some vitamin C, don't get stuck with one preparation day after day. Sprinkling sugar over fresh grapefruit slices is tasty, but you can turn your plain breakfast into an exciting one by firing up one of your kitchen appliances.
One of the best ways to kick your breakfast up a notch is to broil your grapefruit. Broiling grapefruit topped with flaky salt and brown sugar creates a caramelized topping that kisses each section of the warm, tart fruit, and you can even add honey or vanilla to elevate the fruit to a whole new level of deliciousness.
Before or after broiling, you can also top grapefruit with coconut chips, chia seeds, herbs such as mint, spices such as cardamom and cinnamon, and more. Simply Recipes recommends broiling grapefruit halves for three to four minutes until lightly browned, keeping a close eye on it to prevent burning.
