The Simple Way To Elevate Home-Canned Peaches
By MICHELLE WELSCH
Peaches canned at home are far superior to those bought at the store, and while they can take some time to get right, the process produces a tasty treat that can be used whenever they’re needed. To take canned peaches to new heights, home chefs should consider adding some other ingredients for extra flavor.
Vanilla and cinnamon both make great additions to canned peaches, and all you have to do is either put a cinnamon stick in the jar or infuse the canning syrup with vanilla. For those looking to reduce their overall sugar intake, honey and juice are great alternatives to white sugar and add their own flavorful flourish.
Once the peaches are canned, which should be done with all the proper safety procedure, they can either be eaten alone or used as an ingredient in desserts such as pies, ice cream, or smoothies. Canned peaches flavored with cinnamon can also be the perfect oatmeal topping or be used to make a glaze for pork chops.
