The Simple Way To Add More Flavor To Almond Butter
BY RYAN CASHMAN
Enhancing the flavor of almond butter is simple — just add ingredients such as honey, cinnamon, maple syrup, and intense spice combinations, like chai or pumpkin spice.
A sprinkling of salt can also amplify the almonds' natural flavors and provide a dash of salinity to balance out the almonds' natural sweetness.
However, if you want the most control over ingredients, consistency, and flavor, try making your own flavorful almond butter at home.
Start by smoking or roasting your almonds in the oven to release the essential oils. Set the temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 to 12 minutes.
Once the almonds have cooled completely, process them gradually in the food processor until you get a smooth, creamy consistency. Add some olive oil to help them soften.
You can now mix in those extra flavors like salt or cinnamon. Then, jar up the flavored almond butter, and store it in the fridge, where it will keep for up to two weeks.
