The Secret To The Best Grilled Cheese Is Already In Your Kitchen
BY KRISTEN WOOD
While there are countless ways to elevate grilled cheese, one simple yet powerful technique is to infuse this comfort food with a burst of zesty, savory flavor of garlic salt.
The salt amplifies the natural flavors of the cheese and bread, while the garlic adds a rich, aromatic quality. This combo turns a basic grilled cheese into a gourmet experience.
Take two slices of bread and a few slices of cheese, then spread a thin layer of either butter or mayo on the sandwich's outside. Next, sprinkle some garlic salt on it.
Cook the sandwich over medium-low heat until it's golden and melty. If there's no garlic salt, you can also make your own by mixing three parts salt with one part garlic powder.
Alternatively, mix three parts salt with one medium minced garlic clove to make a homemade version of garlic salt, which lets you adjust the garlic intensity per your preference.
