The Reason You Should Be Baking Yukon Gold Potatoes
BY ERIN SHAW
While Russet potatoes are the type most commonly used for a baked potato, consider using Yukon potatoes as a great alternative that still delivers tasty results.
While most potatoes need to be baked for at least 45 to 60 minutes, non-traditional potatoes like Yukon Golds will need to be baked for at least an hour and a half.
What makes the Yukon a great alternative is its creamy texture compared to Russets — it just needs to be cooked at a lower temperature at a slower pace.
You can prepare the Yukon Golds like you would a Russet. Prick them a few times, place them directly on the oven rack, and let them cook for 90 minutes at 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
Once you pull your Yukon Golds out of the oven, enjoy them with all your favorite toppings like butter, sour cream, chives, shredded cheese, and bacon bits.
