The Reason Not All Canned Foods Feature A Pull Tab

Pull tabs make opening a can much easier, so you may wonder why some canned foods lack this handy feature. The reason is that it’s more expensive to manufacture pull tabs.
Trusted name brands are more likely to spend money on tabs, because they have a large and established customer that likely won't mind paying more for name-brand canned foods.
This means the brand can incorporate the cost of making pull tabs into the price of the product. Lesser-known brands will have trouble doing this and want to keep costs down.
Smaller companies will often have you reaching for a can opener. Some big brands will also eschew pull tabs when exporting products to other countries, due to extra costs.
