The Psychology Behind Why Five Guys Gives Customers A Ton Of Extra Fries
BY Nathan Legare
Five Guys employees are specifically trained to include an extra scoop of fries in each order. It's a move that helps the chain stand out against other fast food giants.
The burger chain believes abundance is the key to customer happiness. Speaking to Food Republic, Chad Murrell, son of Five Guys founder Jerry Murrell, elaborated on the sentiment.
As he put it, “Other restaurants just don't give a satisfying amount of fries. We always give an extra scoop. I say load 'em up and make sure they get their money's worth."
That said, this practice is a thought-out psychological strategy. Diners may think they're getting a bargain, but the extra scoop of fries is already included in the menu's prices.
