The Protein-Rich Ingredient You Should Add To Tuna Salad
By MEGGAN ROBINSON
Tuna salad doesn't need to be boring. There is a secret ingredient that can pack in healthy fiber and a satisfying crunch to transform your boring, ordinary lunch into a delightful low-carb, high-protein flavor experience.
The nutritious, delicious chickpea is a good source of fiber, calcium, magnesium, and potassium. You can use chickpeas to create a powerhouse tuna salad with a simple recipe that combines canned chickpeas and tuna, green onions and roasted red peppers.
While canned chickpeas are great on their own, our favorite way to use them in tuna salad is to toast them up for added crunch. Just make sure you sprinkle your crispy chickpeas right before serving your tuna salad so they don't get soggy.
