As sourdough baker Jenny Silva shares in an Instagram video, you can soften your sourdough crust using a paper towel — without altering the ingredients or bread-making procedure.
Simply drape a paper towel moistened with water over the bread once it’s out of the oven. The moisture will transfer to the crust, and the residual heat will steam it to soften it.
Once the towel has dried completely, remove it from the loaf and let it cool. As the bread cools, it’ll be exposed to dry air, keeping the crust from turning soggy.
