The Only States In The US Where You Can't Buy Alcohol At Costco
BY STEPHANIE FRIEDMAN
Pennsylvania and Maryland are the only states that don't allow alcohol to be sold at Costco, and the reasoning has to do with local regulations around liquor licenses.
Pennsylvania generally has one of the most complicated policies around alcohol, and Costco currently can't follow them. Spirits are only sold in state stores and distilleries.
In Maryland, you typically can't get any booze from a grocery store, and a statewide prohibition in 1978 led to only a select few chains that can sell it, not including Costco.
