The One Thing You Shouldn't Do If You're New To Drinking Bourbon
BY Matthew Spina
Anton Kinloch, a bartender at Lone Wolf during NY Bartender Week, told Tasting Table a mistake to avoid when sampling a strong alcohol, like bourbon, is adding too much sugar.
Per Kinloch, "adding sugar to whiskey in excess does not make for a great product." Instead, you should "start with a 40% (80-proof) bourbon and gradually work from there."
Sweeter drinks may seem better, but starting with a good yet milder bourbon brand in a cocktail that lets the spirit shine will help you see what you like about the bourbon.
