The One-Ingredient Method For Making Caramel In The Microwave
By STEPHANIE MAIDA
Traditionally, making caramel is quite complicated. It requires you to keep a close eye on the melting sugar, stir it just the right amount, and make sure that it doesn't burn.
However, there is a shortcut for making foolproof caramel, with no charred and sticky messes burnt into your saucepan. All you need is sweetened condensed milk.
Simply pour a can of sweetened condensed milk into a bowl, cover it with a lid, and pop it into the microwave to cook in two-minute intervals.
After each time segment is up, take it out, stir, and then repeat the process until the condensed milk has darkened in color and thickened to the consistency of caramel.
