The One Coffee Flavor Swirl We Will Always Pass On At Dunkin'
BY Autumn Swiers
In our ranking of seven Dunkin' flavor swirls — the thick, creamy additions that can add sweetness and flavor to any Dunkin' drink — the chain's brown sugar syrup came in last.
According to our taste-tester, the syrup certainly delivered on sweetness, but "it didn't have the depth of flavor that brown sugar has. Instead, it just tasted like white sugar."
It's seemingly a failed attempt to poach brown sugar coffee fans. As our taste-tester pointed out, brown sugar, unlike white sugar, contains molasses, which the syrup barely had.
"I don't know if Dunkin' used very little molasses or omitted it … but, in a blind test, I would have thought this drink was cold brew and simple syrup mixed together," they said.
