The No-Frills Method For Cooking Fluffy Brown Rice Every Time
BY WENDY MEAD
Most recipes for brown rice call for cooking it on the stovetop. However, there's a better, gadget-free way to make great brown rice with a common household appliance: the oven.
The oven provides constant heat around the entire dish and allows the rice to cook evenly. This makes the rice turn out much fluffier than stovetop rice.
Place 1.5 cups of rice inside a dish, then boil 2.5 cups of water and pour the hot water over the rice. Add about a tablespoon of a fat like butter or oil and a teaspoon of salt.
Once you've combined the rice, water, salt, and butter or oil, it's time to tightly cover the dish with aluminum foil and cook it at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for one hour.
