The Meatier Chicken Wing Substitute To Please A Hungry Crowd
By KATHERINE BECK
A single chicken wing provides only about an ounce of meat, which can seem like very little when you're faced with cooking for a hungry crowd. However, an easy swap can be made that will provide more meat per wing and without compromising on the flavor or making you jump through extra hoops to change up your cooking.
Turkey wings can be prepared just like chicken wings, but are larger with more meat, and the recipe you typically use for chicken wings can still be used for turkey wings. Whether they're baked, roasted, or deep-fried, turkey wings can be coated with dry-rubbed, sauced, and/or served with your favorite dipping sauce.
The Spruce Eats notes that while a turkey wing is made of white meat, it will have a “gamier” taste than turkey breast. If you're going to be pressed for time when cooking, know that turkey wings also take longer to cook through, and it will take about an hour to bake three pounds of turkey wings at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
