The Maximum Amount Of Eggs You Can Safely Eat Each Week
By AUTUMN SWIERS
Eggs have gotten a bad rap for being too high in cholesterol and not as heart-healthy as most consumers previously believed, with a single egg containing 186 milligrams of cholesterol. However, eggs undeniably have health benefits, as one large egg provides 6 grams of high quality protein, only 70 calories, and is a good source of essential nutrients.
Like so many things in life, eggs are good for you, but in moderation. Both the Mayo Clinic and the American Heart Association agree that your diet can include up to seven eggs a week without affecting heart health.
The main factor is watching what you pair them with. Eggs might be healthy on their own, but they often come alongside cheese, bacon, and butter, which are high in saturated fat and cholesterol. Choosing plant-based protein sources will limit cholesterol intake, as will eating just the egg white and not the yolk.
