The Major Cleaning Mistake You're Probably Making With Induction Stoves
BY SEPTEMBER GRACE MAHINO
Cleaning an induction stove while it's still on is a costly mistake that can damage the cooktop surface, especially if you use a commercial cleaning solution.
The chemicals in the liquid might react adversely to the heat and leave spots on the glass. Plus, there's a low risk of burning yourself with an induction stove.
Most cleaning solutions contain ammonium hydroxide. When it's used on a stove that hasn't cooled, or the stove is heated before the solution dries, the heat can trigger a reaction.
This reaction releases ammonia gas, which is harmful to anyone who inhales it. To avoid this, wait a few minutes after turning off the stove before wiping it down.
