The Low-Quality Deli Turkey That Should Never Be In Your Shopping Cart
BY Ebony Bellamy
In Tasting Table's ranking of packaged deli turkey, the popular brand Buddig was the worst option. Like some other brands available, Buddig featured horrible ingredients.
When you read the nutritional facts about the deli turkey, you'll be surprised to see just how much fat, sodium, and sugar is in each serving of this deli turkey meat.
It has 590 milligrams of sodium per serving — 25 percent of the daily recommendation — and includes additives like carrageenan, natural flavoring, and modified food starch.
Aside from nutrition, Buddig's deli turkey oddly resembles a thin slice of bologna with a similarly round shape. It also has a weird, rubbery texture that makes it too chewy.
It claims to be smoked, chopped, and pressed, but there's no smoked flavor, and the consistency is weird. Despite how terrible it is, it's one of the pricier brands available.
