The Knife Brand Ina Garten Swears By
BY KAREN HART
A chef's knife is one of, if not the most, important tool in one's culinary arsenal, and everyone from home cooks to pro chefs has a favorite brand of knives. Chef Ina Garten isn't really known for recommending expensive or rare purchases to her audience, but she does swear by a special kitchenware brand that is worth seeking out.
Garten's go-to knife brand is Wüsthof, a renowned brand among chefs since its founding in 1814, and she emphasizes that "They're pretty expensive, but they last a lifetime." Wüsthof knives are special because they are made from high-carbon steel, which is rust- and stain-resistant, and also offer comfort and ease of cutting.
Garten points out that "Comfort is another factor, not just the blade itself. You want workhorse knives that you just know are going to be great," and Wüsthof does the job. Other celebrity chefs, including Gordon Ramsay and Ree Drummond, also love the brand's knives, with Drummond stating that they are her absolute favorite as well.
