The Irish Whiskey Trick To Really Wake Up Your French Toast
By MICHELLE WELSCH
French toast is very kid-friendly, but booze can give it a grown-up-twist. To give your French toast delicious notes of caramel, cinnamon, and oak, try adding Irish whiskey.
All you have to do is add a few splashes of the whiskey to the egg and milk custard mix used to soak the bread. Pour the booze conservatively to avoid alcohol overload.
You can't take the flavor of the booze away if you add too much. Be careful with it, and you'll add just the right amount of sweet, rich depth to your special breakfast.
After cooking, the French toast won't have enough alcohol to cause any side effects and will simply carry the flavors of the whiskey, so don't worry about boozing up your guests.
