The Inexpensive Way To Enjoy Tuna Poke Bowls
BY AUTUMN SWIERS
It’s easy to enjoy a cheap tuna poke bowl by swapping raw sashimi-grade tuna fish with canned tuna. Canned tuna adds the right seafood flavor to the dish for a much lower price.
At Fulton Fish Market, two 7 to 9-ounce sushi-grade Wild Ahi tuna steaks will cost you around $50, while StarKist Chunk Light Tuna cans from Target are roughly $1.20 per serving.
In addition to the fish, all you need is some rice, toppings like sesame seeds, and your veggies of choice, such as cucumber, avocado, carrot, and/or chopped green onions.
To finish it all off, drizzle on a homemade dressing like cilantro lime aioli, sriracha mayo, plum jelly and oyster sauce, or just some soy sauce and sesame oil.
