The Important Step for Ultra Crispy Breaded Food From
The Air Fryer
By Kashmir Brummel
Some oil is required to get a crispy finish on breaded foods in the air fryer. The best way to do this is to incorporate oil into the breadcrumbs before coating your food.
Simply add the oil and breadcrumbs to a bowl, stir until all the breadcrumbs are coated, and coat and air-fry your dish as normal. This ensures that the crumbs brown evenly.
This method still uses very little oil compared to regular deep frying — around 2 tablespoons for every ½ cup of breadcrumbs. You can also use any cooking oil that you have handy.
If you prefer to bread your food with panko, simply start with a smaller quantity of oil and add more if needed. Homemade breadcrumbs can also benefit from this method.
