The Importance Of Descaling Your Nespresso Machine
BY PEGGY AOKI
Cleaning a Nespresso machine is crucial for extending its life and ensuring the best-tasting brew. One important cleaning step is removing minerals, known as "scale" or lime.
Over time, minerals from water collect on the internal tubes and heating tank, changing the brew's taste. In extreme cases, it can even clog the tubes and damage the brewer.
As a result, Nespresso recommends running a descaling cycle on their machines after three months or 300 capsules. Some newer models won't even brew if they exceed the limit.
You can buy a descaling solution from Nespresso that is gentle and guaranteed to remove those minerals. Once you use the solution, you'll need to run a cycle of clean water.
