The Hot Jar Trick That Will Help You Soften Butter Faster
BY JEN PENG
Whether you need softened butter for your morning toast or a baking recipe, there's a great trick to soften it straight from the fridge so it gets to room temperature faster.
Start by filling a microwave-safe, heat-safe jar with water and heat it in the microwave for two minutes. You can also heat water on the stovetop and pour it into the jar.
Once the jar is heated, empty it, place the butter inside, and cover the butter with the lid. For the best results, stand up your stick of butter vertically in the jar.
Leave the butter in the jar for about five minutes. It's at the perfect temperature when you can make an indentation with your finger without the butter losing its shape.
