The Hot Dog Brand You Should Leave Alone At The Grocery Store
BY Javaria Akbar
In Tasting Table's list of 13 grocery store hot dog brands, Gwaltney Great Dogs Original ranked last. These hot dogs tasted more like bologna and had a mild smoky flavor.
Their texture was also too soft, and they were missing the chew that gave the other contenders in our taste test their balanced mouthfeel.
Gwaltney hot dogs are made from mechanically separated chicken and contain an artificial sweetener in the form of corn syrup.
While Gwaltney is affordable at $2 for a pack of eight, you'd be better off buying a more expensive brand that actually tastes like a proper hot dog.
