The History Of Kerrygold Irish Butter Doesn’t Actually Start In Ireland
BY AUSTIN HAVENS-BOWEN
Kerrygold is consistently ranked as one of the best on the market. Despite being an authentic Irish butter, it was originally sold in the United Kingdom in 1962.
To be fair, the brand's origins were still tied to Ireland from the start because its initial success was the result of The Irish Dairy Board, which launched in 1961.
The butter was sold in other countries in 1962 and was particularly popular in Germany, but it didn’t make its way to Ireland until 1973 — 11 years after its inception.
