The Guinness World Record For The Largest Pumpkin Pie Is Truly Colossal
By HANNAH MCQUEEN
Pumpkin pie is a staple of the Fall season, and on September 25, 2010, history was made in New Bremen, Ohio, when 40 pastry chefs teamed up with the New Bremen Giant Pumpkin Growers to create the world’s largest pumpkin pie. The remarkable confection clocked in with a 20-foot diameter and a weight of 3,699 pounds.
The gargantuan pie was made using a whopping 187 cans of pumpkin, over 200 dozen eggs, over 100 gallons of evaporated milk, and 525 pounds of sugar. It also featured 3 pounds of pumpkin pie spice, 7 pounds of salt, 14.5 pounds of cinnamon, and 440 sheets of dough, and provided a total of 5,000 servings.
Created during the 2010 New Bremen Pumpkinfest, the pie took about 13 hours to bake in an improvised oven crafted from foundation blocks. The Pumpkin Growers also revealed that the pie outdid their previous 2005 attempt by a longshot, which was 12-feet across and weighed 2,020 pounds.
