The Grocery Store Croissant That Rivals Costco As The Best
BY Luna Regina
Costco's buttery croissant may be popular, but Tasting Table ranked Fresh Thyme Market's perfect croissant as the best out of 10 popular chain grocery store croissants.
Although seemingly smaller, Fresh Thyme Market's croissant is similar to Costco's, except it has a glossy finish and finer layers of pastry on both the exterior and interior.
Fresh Thyme Market's croissant has a soft, lighter interior with crispy layers, while Costco's croissant is doughy and heavier and lacks that coveted airy center and crispy crust.
The croissant at Fresh Thyme Market has a lighter, golden brown color, which means it’s perfectly baked. Contrarily, Costco's is a shade darker, which often entails a burnt taste.
For Tasting Table tester, Megan Hageman, these differences were enough to disarm Costco's buttery croissant and bring Fresh Thyme Market's perfect croissant to victory.
