The Grand Manhattan: A Sweet Twist On The Classic Whiskey Cocktail
BY COURTNEY BRANDT
Made of whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters, the Manhattan is deemed too intense by many. Luckily, one simple addition can make for a sweeter variation called the Grand Manhattan.
The Grand Manhattan offers a richer and more sophisticated drinking experience thanks to the inclusion of Grand Marnier, a French orange liqueur renowned for its vibrant flavor.
The liqueur lends the "grand" part to the cocktail's name, while its citrusy notes and hints of sweetness harmonize with the whiskey and vermouth, creating a more indulgent taste.
A classic Manhattan contains rye whiskey, but bourbon works best for the Grand Manhattan. To get a sweeter cocktail, try playing with vermouth varieties or add more vermouth to it.
