The Festive Spice Blend Molly Yeh Adds To Snack Mix
BY NATASHA BAILEY
With the holidays coming up, many at-home chiefs want to break out their best recipes to impress family and friends. Molly Yeh, hostess of Food Network's series "Girl Meets Farm" and author of "Molly On The Range: Recipes and Stories,” suggests whipping up her favorite snack mix with a festive spice added to the mix.
Yeh makes her sweet snack mix by preparing a chocolate-flavored coating, which involves heating half a stick of butter in a saucepan before adding chocolate chips, a pinch of salt, and tahini. After melting everything together, she stirs in a little vanilla extract, then some gingerbread spice, the true secret ingredient.
Yeh recommends buying fresh spices for this recipe, since stale spices are less flavorful. If you're having trouble finding gingerbread spice at the store, you can make it at home by combining equal parts cinnamon, allspice, and ginger with some ground cloves, ground nutmeg, and a dash of black pepper.
