Since fresh fruit can be expensive, it can be a pretty big upset to discover your berries aren’t very fresh, but there is an easy trick to help you pick out the freshest berries.
Instagram user @naptown_thrifts shared that her husband’s trick for picking out fresher berries is to flip the carton and buy whichever ones don’t stick to the bottom.
This trick works because berries turn mushy when they start to break down, which in turn causes them to stick to the bottom of their containers.
You should also make sure to avoid any mold, even if it’s just on one berry because it will likely start to grow on others soon after.
