English muffins are light and tender griddle-fried loaves that are perfect for any meal of the day. To avoid uneven separation, squeeze the muffin while rotating it in your hands.
Since the edges of store-bought English muffins are already perforated, applying gentle pressure to their sides will separate the halves and leave those precious pockets intact.
Although it may seem counterintuitive, using a knife to cut into this treat compromises the structure, crumbling the edge of where it's already been split.
Stephanie Reynolds (aka @r_eginageorge) and her squeezing hack have gone viral on TikTok, which works whether you're baking your own or reaching for the Thomas' English brand.
Instructions on properly separating the muffins have been detailed on the package all along. It advises to "gently split the English muffin in half" using your hands or a fork.
