The Difference Between Starbucks' Flat White And Caffè Latte
BY MEGGAN ROBINSON
A Starbucks grande Caffè Latte contains two shots of espresso, hot steamed 2% milk, and foam, while a grande Flat White has three ristretto espresso shots and hot steamed whole milk.
Espresso ristretto is one of the key differences between the two drinks. Starbucks' website says it's a shorter, richer, less bitter pull of espresso than their signature blend.
The Flat White is made with three smaller shots of richer espresso, richer milk (though less of it), and just the thinnest layer of microfoam.
The Caffè Latte has two slightly larger shots of more bitter espresso, lighter milk (but more of it), and a lovely layer of foam.
